Dolphins crashed & burned at end of seasonThere's the little story and the big story coming out of Sunday's 30-24 loss to Pittsburgh.
The little story was the game itself which was both typical and atypical of the way the Miami Dolphins finished the season: They started slow and got themselves terribly behind, and at one point were down 27-10, and down to their third quarterback.
With Chad Henne and Pat White out with injuries, the Dolphins put the game in the hands of Tyler Thigpen.
Everyone in the house is thinking "this game is over", but then the kid acquired in a trade from Kansas City this season shows read more...

Dolphins Fumble Their Way to Season Opening LossFOUR. That’s the number that stands out after watching the Dolphins lose their season opener up in Atlanta. No, not the final score of 19-7 – but FOUR, the number of turnovers the team committed in a miserable offensive performance. The offense’s statistics were aided by a 12-play, 76-yard drive in the 4th quarter, but besides that, the Fins were largely shut down by both the Falcons and their own mistakes. These mistakes proved costly but also must come as a huge surprise. Last season, Miami set an NFL record (along with the Giants) for fewest turnovers in a season read more...

Dolphins can't compete with the eliteIt’s pretty simple to figure out why the Dolphins are not ready to compete with the elite.
You can blame it on the lack of dedication to the running game in the second half against the Saints.
You can point the finger at Gibril Wilson, Ted Ginn, Anthony Fasano or even Special teams coach John Bonamego.

So far through 2 seasons, Parcells and company read more...

What Dan Marino loves about this Dolphins teamDan Marino praised Tony Sparano's Miami Dolphins for never giving up.
"You know what I love about this football team -- they play hard all the time," Marino said during the 'Dan Marino Show,' which airs every Monday morning on WQAM during the NFL season. "It's really amazing. They're mentally tough. To come from behind like that, especially on the road shows a lot about this team. Tennessee is one fo the better teams in the AFC, and they went in there and had a good chance to win because of their resiliency."
Something else that was obvious against Tennessee: Teams continue read more...

Good start for DolphinsFinally some helmet smacking, heart pounding, mud in your face football game. Sure the Dolphins beat intrastate rival Jacksonville Jaguars 12-9 but the storylines were internal.
The Phins made Ted Ginn the main element of the playbook when the first team offense was in action. Ginn was the intended target for four of Pennington’s seven throws. He also had a 14 yard run off a HB fake (quiet night for Ronnie Brown) and a great block by RG Shawn Murphy who hauled butt to the left side.
Murphy, who was inactive last season, started at the right guard position but played read more...
